I’m usually looking out at the sea when I take a pic. This one from a summer that’s gone is looking in from the ferry in the harbour ready to leave for France
Here’s the short Guitar Tab Video from the adaption of my original song ‘Pain’. I didn’t get around to putting it into the earlier blog post. If you didn’t get to listening before yet still fancy a listen then here it is in vid format.
Cringe central today. I’d forgotten about this 2012 early number, written at a time when I was studying composition, called ‘Fault Lines’. Produced in a small bedroom – which was all I used back then – it’s just a demo version, and proves that anyone can make music without studio facilities. Maybe or maybe not it’s one I might return to another time. For now the full lyric to sing along to – if you feel you really want to – and below that, the the song itself. The song’s production still makes me squirm a little, but as I said, it’s cringe central today – it keeps me honest. I hope you enjoy;
FAULT LINES (4.02)
I travel the fastest*
In a world that is shrinking – my heart turns to stone
I’ll trade this new freedom – for all that I have known
I, who travels alone*
Like a worn out suit in a charity shop
I’d trade this new freedom – my religion I’d swap
We are thrown into this world
We are thrown into this world
We are thrown into this world
Some tumble – some will fall
The pendulum swings
Tectonic plates shift, fault lines are drifting for now
Snapping apart the bond of the peasant and plough
Turn around and look back for me
That is the way a heart learns to bleed
I can see what needs doing
I can feel all the pain
I can reach out and touch
But I can’t loosen the chain
We are thrown into this world
We are thrown into this world
We are thrown into this world
Some tumble; some will fall
I can see what needs doing
I can feel all the pain
I can reach out and touch
But I can’t loosen the chain
I travel the fastest*
In a world that is shrinking, my heart turns to stone
I’ll trade this new freedom – for all that I have known
I travel alone
Like a worn out suit in a charity shop
I’d trade this new freedom; my religion I’d swap
We are thrown into this world
We are thrown into this world
We are thrown into this world
Some tumble – some will fall
Words of Rudyard Kipling*
