G5 (B&W)‘Defeat Looms’

An adapted story. I say adapted only because I turned it into verse for this post.

What’s the worst thing you want to hear about if you’re an artist, photographer, writer, poet, musician, whatever apart from being ignored? I’d often wondered. Now I know.

KINDA

“I kinda like your kinda great kinda music

I kinda like the way you kinda write a kinda song

I kinda like the kinda words for your kinda lyrics

I kinda think we might kinda get along”

Not sure if I was being dissed or liked, my reply;

“I kinda think I better be off now”

Was my kinda way of saying goodbye

I kinda hope she hasn’t kinda killed my kinda creativity

If so I kinda think I’ll just break down and kinda cry

There’s got to be a song in there somehow. Having said that here is a song. It’s an older number written about a front man in our teenage band I played lead in. He thought he was the only talent and owned the show. Big ego’s kill bands as he found out. After that I gave up being in bands. Politics doesn’t do it for me. Anyway, I hope you like it;

The pic below I took from a clifftop. I was looking down and spotted just the tail of a giant mermaid on the beach below. I hope she wasn’t harpooned and washed onto the beach on the incoming tide.

    1. Thanks, Shey. Anyone can muck about with pics like I do. An iPhone and a bit of editing is so easy. Personally I think it’s killing real art. Thanks for kind words ~ George

      1. Aye but not anyone can make them look like something. It still needs an eye for the detail. And yep, you can say it’s killing real art but because you have that eye, you don’t see it. No joke there. You probably think everyone can do this, what’s the big deal. But there are those who would make a pig’s brekkie of it.

      2. I guess on days when my imagination is alive I can see a pic. Not all the time though. It’s the same with creativity composing music and as a writer you will know the same feeling when words stay in the shadows. Thanks for reading, Shey ~ George

  1. Great photos and music. I can kinda tell that you are not that “kinda guy” who likes those kinda conversations. It kinda makes me wonder what kinda of people you’re kinda attracting? “Not That Kinda Guy” might be a decent title? Then there are “kinda guys”. Back some time ago there were men around here would say things like “I’m the kinda guy that…” or “We’ll! You know, I’m the kinda guy who…” Etc. So we called them “Kinda guys”.

    1. ‘I’m the kinda got that…’ I understand. It works. The thing is ‘Kinda’ as an opening word in a conversation causes doubt. If anyone lives in the world of up front ‘kinda’ they’ll never write/compose anything. Can you imagine getting close to someone who says ‘kinda’ in every sentence? Maybe it’s just where I live but I am hearing it all the time. Thanks for the read ~ George

      1. It’s alive and well here. I listened to a rapper the other day – it’s not my favourite music form but has my respect – and ‘kinda’ represented 30% of his rap. What’s that all about? The genre deserves much better that that. Thanks again ~ George

    1. Thanks Rugby843 – brilliant name – as a dyslexic I’ve had to come to terms with what people say. ‘Kinda’ means ‘less than ‘ in my world. Since I wrote this I’ve been told I’ve got it all wrong – ‘kinda’ is just a throwaway line meaning ‘I’m good with that’. The thing is I hear it all the time. Confusing. Thanks for your great words ~ George

      1. What about ‘kinda like, sort of, know what I mean’. I’ve even heard that sometimes. Whatever art you are an artist in you just want to know if what you’ve written/made/composed/painted is good or bad – I wish they would just speak a language I know and tell me. Not a lot to ask ~ As ever, thanks ~ George

  2. Reblogged this on CRAZY LIFE and commented:
    Beautiful voice, song all the elements come together including the post as a whole. I just love music artista, maybe I wanted to sing or what is up Charly? He is a male, but ladieeeees! I´m straight. Although he is a Good looking male …… point being before I go into a strange ramble, no point really just like to conversate with a musician. I actually sound like a little girl…….

      1. On a good day we do. I’ve had hay fever for the last few weeks and trying to sing anything is off the menu right now. I sound like sandpaper on glass when trying to sing at the moment. ~ George

    1. Thanks. Google says ‘Kinda’ is used by people that are afraid to commit to a simple yes or no answer. Being a glass half empty sort of bloke I tend to hear it as a ‘no’. I’m glad you liked the verse though. Thanks again ~ George

  3. Hello George! I hope the mermaid is well. It sounds to me like… the gal who said these comments to you “kinda” has a CRUSH on you!!! Blow it off. No need to borrow worry. I do not believe it was meant in the negative. The Delusional Troll… my husband has nicknamed himself “the grumpy troll” and often says “no one crosses my bridge”… meaning he is in charge and what he says goes… (Wait, I have to quit laughing cause that’s not true!!!) OK. So now I sang him part of Delusional Troll. (I murdered it, George, I’m an awful singer. I will have him actually listen to your version.) “…he thinks he can do anything under his bridge, DELUSIONAL troll…” You have made my day… my entire month!!! Thanks, George! See you on Sunday! ~kim

    1. I don’t think anyone has sung one of my songs out loud before. This is a first. Plus you said it made you day/month. It doesn’t get better than that. I’ll hang in there waiting for your Sunday quiz as only a dyslexic can. Thanks ~ George

  4. That does look like a mermaid tail! And I know what you mean. That’s one of the reasons I don’t share my writing with people I know around me–that “eh” attitude is such a killer. If you don’t like what I write, THAT’S FINE. I’d rather just be told that than get the “it was okay” attitude. At least one friend had the decency to explain a couple things he didn’t like about my writing style. I can appreciate that. But don’t be all wishy-washy, ugh….

    1. It happened again. A new follower hit 27 consecutive ‘likes’ and filed up the comments bar. Sorry, I only just found this. When someone says ‘Kinda’ with a smile I think the ‘kinda’ bit should be ignored. Without a smile then it is like you said, a killer. Thanks for that and sorry again for missing this ~ George

  5. Just FYI I noticed you were not turning up in my Reader on WP. So I came to your site and see that I am not following you. So I have refollowed. I have had this happend with a number of blogs I follow. They just seem to have unfollowed . But I’ve got you back now!

    1. I’ve got the same thing, Anne. The killer is that I am, and will be more so any minute now, using WP as my main business website with loads of new products. Some aren’t going to interest bloggers that much, but this is my hub from all over the place. I’m not happy and I’m paying enough to them they really should get it right – and this. That for confirming this issue ~ George

      1. WOW! What a pain in the derriere that is! I have Premium but I am not monetized and I am just doing the blogging for fun and to keep me busier than I need to be. I hope you can get it sorted. I will also sent the WP gnomes a message and see what response I get.

  6. I contacted WP and went on a “chat” .They said they had not heard of this happening. However on looking into it they found I had unfollowed several sites. They gave me a list. I said I had not unsubscribed to any of those. And one of them was Zoolon Audio. I told them I had just refollowed it. And when I came on here tonight I can see I am not following again. They have asked me to keep track of when this happens and let them know. They have assured me they will look into it. I told them I would pass all this on to you. So if you want to you could get onto them via “help” and see what they say.

    1. It’s interesting what you say. On top of losing followers there’s another issue where I am seeing post from those I follow but WP is telling me I’m not! It’s hard to explain but I’ll give it my best shot; Here’s a new take on the WP issue. Take a scenario where a blogger I follow posts back to back posts. They appear on the Reader; I hit ‘Visit’ and on post one it says in the bottom right corner ‘Follow’ – even though I am already following. So having read the first post I hit, ‘Previous’ so I can see the next post where in the bottom right corner it now says ‘Following’! So Odd. It’s probably best you keep your horses and me my guitar. Thanks again for all your advice ~ George
