RUNNING FROM THE SUN

‘A Brand New Tomato Plant’ – A shame I had to be told it was a tomato plant

‘March of The Dead’ – a piece of Sound Art I made using samples and sound manipulation a while back. A bit of dark fun. I miss not having the time to make more of this kind of art. I hope you like it;

THE UGLY & THE POWERFUL

I met a man from Syria

A woman from Lebanon

They’d crossed 1,000 oceans

Running from the sun

Running from oppression

Running from religious hate

Fortune’s wasted on crooked traffickers

Running from a starving state

They turned up in this England

In the hope of charity

Asylum and a place to sleep

Never knowing that could never be

Sure, there are so many

Who care, who act, who try

But the ugly and the powerful

Sit back and watch them die

This song hasn’t had an airing on WP for ages. So, if you’re not familiar with it, or even if you are and just want another listen, here it is, ‘Sunlight & The Dust’ from my Dream Rescuer album. I hope you enjoy;

  1. Such a wonderful heartfelt post. I honestly think you are one of a kind , Lord Zoolon. Your lyrics speak of the person that is you. I am happy that I can read stuff like this , that has a heart, a mind and soul to it , that also says a lot about your music.
    I think you have already reached that great place at the top.

  2. This is an excellent song, George, as powerful as it is moving. I think the words you added above are a sad indictment of how little we, as a race, have evolved.
    ‘March…’ is creepy, which is fine by me. Thanks for sharing this.

    1. Thanks Chris. Someone told me the human race – especially Western nations – have halted evolution because of diet and social issues. I don’t know how true that might be. Thanks again ~ George

    1. That would be really good, Ruth. I think if you search for Zoolon, hit ‘Visit’ on this post then scroll down there’s the ‘reblog’ tab. That should work, but you never know. Thanks ~ Zoolon aka George

      1. Well, I failed to find a Visit button. The template for these blog sites is so different, blog to blog, and it’s hard to navigate them. So, what I did was: I copied and pasted just the poem itself, and put a copyright symbol at the bottom with ZOOLON, at WordPress.com I also prefaced with a reference to my “fellow blogger’s” lyrics. And, I posted it on my FBK page. Is that okay, Z?

      2. That’s really kind of you, Ruth. I’ve started adapting this as a new song for an album out later this year so the more people know of my stuff the better. Thanks again ~ George

  3. George, I just became a FAN at your ReverbNation page. Your pitch is flawless, I’ve said it before……and, your music is so distinctive, and memorable. Read my poems in the original poetry category at my blog site; if you find some verse you can use, email me at the address you’ll find at my About page. I, too, am serious. I really, really like your music. Thanks!

      1. Addé here: You are absolutely right! Since I belong to the paleoanalogic times and saw, and was part of, the digital revolution, I sadly witness that, most of the times, those amazing technologies are prosthetic…

      2. True! Glad to see you aware of it. Looong time ago, I was commissioned to create a music “that would make the audience thirsty” Quite a fascinating challenge then, but what would it be today? Addé

      3. That’s a difficult one. Easier in Sound Art than it is in music I think – well at least I think I think that. A difficult challenge definitely. What did you come up with? ~ George

      4. To make it short: “dry matters such as seeds, sands, magnetic tape, et c. moved in plastic spheres + a multi-head echo chamber and wholla lot of paraphernalia I forgot about… Addé
