THE DREAM RESCUER

THE DREAM RESCUER

You rescued dreams and nightmare’s schemes,

Spinning around inside your head,

You kept them in your diary,

A book you said you never read,

Come morning, come broad daylight,

At rainbows end you wept,

Was it the red fox, or the Bengal tiger,

Who stole the dreams you’d kept?

Frozen words and red balloons,

Evaporating in thin air,

Lost in time, not kissed goodbye,

The dream you dared to dare.

Someone with loads more brain cells than I’ll ever have told me that she didn’t mind me working with the prompt she inspired, namely the title ‘The Dream Rescuer’.  I hope there’s a song to come out of this one day soon.

Time for a song? Why not. This one is called ‘Rebirth’ and I made this a while ago, in just a few days using my Ableton push and guitar after suffering a year and a half of block on the composition front. If I was writing it again it might turn out a little different but that didn’t matter at the time, I was just pleased to have written something, anything. This one means a lot to me in that it gave way to a new dawn; a better place. Hope you enjoy.

      • The cheek of it. Yes, young Marissa, no doubt in the quest for a ‘like’ Lord Zoolon did point me in the direction of this post, yet my actual words implied it was ‘the best thing he’d ever written’! Thrice cheek of it!

  1. George, a pivotal moment when we’ve dared to dare, sometimes life changing. I for one would love to see, “The Dream Rescuer” on a future album, perhaps even as the title track, it offers so many possibilities and directions to go in. Your words are both personal and universal, it speaks to me about the self-doubt that grounds us and sometimes paralyzes us by factors known and unknown. Each line could be a story in itself, a song in itself waiting to take its first breath. Every time I read this more is revealed, my mind is really enjoying your words, and the distant lands and memories that they’re taking me to. Presently the lines that grabbed me the most,

“You kept them in your diary,
A book you said you never read,”

I find them incredibly sobering, time to get off the merry-go-round. Thank you. You’ve paired your words, “The Dream Rescuer” (hopefully soon to be a complete lyric) with another amazing song of yours, “Rebirth”. Again, I find it personal and universal if you live in the land of creativity, so profound and familiar, “…in prison, and yet not in prison…”

Your photo can’t go unmentioned, I’m jealous, you always take what I consider photos with artistic value, and here is another example of just that. The photo tells a story, a big story. What seems like just a scenic capture is so much more, just climb into the image Alice, it’s all there.

This is quite a post today. Rexie and I have enjoyed it thoroughly. It’s given us a lot to think about, and offers great inspiration. Please enjoy the rest of your Friday, George. ~ Feather & Lightfoot

  2. Wonderful poem! And im really liking this song.Especially when the bass comes in. And the vocal harmony is excellent. I make music on occasion as well, the link’s somewhere on my blog I think, but none of my songs are anywhere near this good. Your voice can get eerie!

    • Thank you. I’ll check out your link. Music is just about the most important thing to me, hence I set up the Zoolon Audio business. I always worried about Rebirth so it’s great to get some feedback.

    • It’s a song I wrote when the music returned after a long time with not a creative thought in me. Part of me wants to re-record it but another part of just says, ‘leave it alone, it’s the one what got you back on track’. My new album of brand new stuff is ready for release. I’ve just got a ton of artwork for each track plus the cover art to go. It hasn’t helped that someone pointed out my colours were all bandy.

    • Thank you. I was working on that very thing yesterday. I still haven’t found the right melody or how to play around with the words. I got close a couple of times. My new album is as good as done and maybe/hopefully this can be a bonus track. Fingers crossed.

  3. The idea of stealing dreams is so sad. Thankfully you made a heck of an album out of all of this and I became one of your biggest fans! OK, I will have to go head to head with another fan if needed 😉 Family excluded! I’m wishing you a great weekend, George. Thank you too for all of your support with my writing. It’s nice to be appreciated.
